COPENHAGEN

A workshop focused on visual perception in public space.
Observing light, rhythm, and structure rather than searching for subjects.
Developing clarity within a balanced and restrained urban environment.

About the City

Copenhagen is a city shaped by balance. Scale, proportion, and intentional design define its rhythm – not through monumentality, but through clarity and restraint. Light feels open and present. Surfaces are calm, transitions precise, spaces carefully resolved. The city reveals itself through continuity rather than contrast. Streets feel composed, yet alive. This makes Copenhagen an ideal place to observe structure with ease – to work with alignment instead of friction, and to find clarity within simplicity and subtle tension within well-defined order.

Focus of the Workshop

• Visual perception in public space
• Light, shadow, and subtle transitions
• Rhythm, repetition, and interruption
• Spatial relationships and distance
• Working with restraint instead of spectacle

How we Work

We move slowly, observe carefully, and work in short, focused phases. There will be guided moments, shared observation, and time to work independently. Feedback happens situationally – while walking, pausing, and reflecting together. The emphasis lies on awareness, rather than speed or output.

For Whom

This workshop is for photographers who want to refine how they see rather than what they photograph.
It is suited for those interested in visual perception, composition, and clarity in public space – independent of experience level or equipment. The focus lies on awareness, conscious decision-making, and developing a personal visual rhythm.

What makes this workshop special

This workshop focuses on how to see and work within Copenhagen’s calm, balanced urban environment.
What distinguishes this workshop is the emphasis on proportion, light, and restraint. Copenhagen is shaped by openness, human scale, and carefully considered space. We work with clarity, repetition, and subtle variation. The group is intentionally small, allowing space for individual attention, focused observation, and precise feedback. We work in short, concentrated phases, alternating between observation, shooting, and reflection. The focus is not on producing many images, but on developing a clear visual language – learning how to recognize rhythm, balance, and quiet tension within an urban environment defined by coherence and light.
